After months of constant rumours and links, Sheffield United have finally signed former Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie on a three year deal.
Hendrie was released by Villa at the end of last season and was strongly rumoured with a move to Middlesbrough before signing for the Blades.
United have been crying out for more creativity in midfield for the last couple of seasons and Hendrie would fit the bill to provide just that.
The only problems for me would be both his age and his temperament. Hendrie seemed to fall out with a few people during his time at Villa, and he is also now 30 years old.
However, having enjoyed such a successful season at Villa Park just a couple of years ago, let’s hope Hendrie can recapture at least some of that form at the Lane.
