Sheffield United’s ‘international’ stars returned this week following action at the weekend.

Daniel Bogdanovic, Ched Evans and Bjorn Helge Riise all featured for their nations, with differing outcomes. Bogdanovic’s Malta came close to a historic point against Greece only for a late winner to prevent them.

Riise was on the winning side and played a full ninety minutes for Norway in their victory, whilst the most high-profile game saw Ched Evans appear as a second-half substitute in Wales’ defeat to England.

Boss Micky Adams said: It’s great to have the lads back, as a manager you always worry that players will return from international duty with a knock.

But they have been in and trained with the rest of the squad.

We are now looking forward to a good week on the training ground this week ahead of what will be a big game at QPR on Monday.’

Meanwhile there was a heavy Blades presence at the heart of England’s defence in their friendly against Ghana last night with Phil Jagielka and Gary Cahill starting the game together. Jagielka enjoyed six glorious years in the Blades first-team after coming through the youth set-up, whilst Cahill had a loan spell under Bryan Robson.

Kyle Walker was originally named in the squad but pulled out during the week through injury.
