Sheffield United have allowed left-back Stephen Jordan to join League 1 promotion chasers Huddersfield Town on an emergency loan.

Jordan has recently returned from injury and despite playing in the 1-1 draw with Millwall has been allowed to leave the club for a month. The former Manchester City defender is the only recognised left-back at the club, and his absence has forced Matt Lowton to fill in on the wrong side.

He was brought to the club in the Summer but was unable to start the season due to injury and is one of three recognised left-backs to have suffered injuries this season; Andy Taylor, and loanee Joe Mattock have bothplayed the role, but are out through injury.

Huddersfield Town`s first-choice left-back also joined from S2; Gary Naysmith signed on a free transfer in the Summer as the deal offered by the Blades failed to match up to what he could receive playing for Lee Clark`s side.

Jordan made his debut in yesterday`s 2-2 draw with Leyton Orient.
