Amongst the euphoria of derby day yesterday, a surprise was thrown in, on the Sheffield United substitutes bench, with Ched Evans and Henri Camara both included.

The pair, who were believed to be missing until the end of the season, were both included, and Kevin Blackwell said, that the magnitude of the game, meant it was worth the gamble.

‘I said to them, if you break down in this one, then so be it, but this is the game that mattered and we’ve got to go for it. They’re both fit clinically, just not match fit.’

For Camara it went one step further, as he was introduced with thirty minutes remaining to add a spark to a struggling Blades attack.

We got Henri in Thursday and worked him hard. I asked how fit he was, and he just said, Gaffer, I want to play; that was good enough for me.

Whether the pair suffered any ill effects from the game is to be seen next week, when they will/won’t be included for the final home game of the season, but for Camara especially, the carrot dangling ahead of him, being a new contract could be enough to play through the pain barrier.
