Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell has heaped praise on midfielder Stephen Quinn after it was revealed he has been carrying an injury for some weeks.

Quinn, who has found himself in a number of positions this season, including left-back and a second striker has been dogged with a toe injury which has led to some pain through the recent games.

Speaking to the Sheffield Star, Blackwell said:
‘Quinny has got something wrong with his toe. Whenever he kicks a ball it feels like someone is digging a knife into him. So credit to the lad for carrying on as long as he has.

‘We think it might be something to do with a nerve so the medical people are going to take a look at it.’

In a season where the Blades have been hampered with injuries, Quinn has failed to appear in just one game, starting 42 matches (six sub appearances), netting four goals in the process.
