Sheffield United striker Billy Sharp is at the centre of a tug-of-war between two Championship teams for his signature in January, and there’s nothing to say they will be the only ones come January.

Since joining Doncaster Rovers on loan Sharp has hit 10 goals in 16 games, which has led Chairman John Ryan to state that a bid will be put to the Blades for his services on a permanent basis.

Possible Options:

Doncaster Rovers:

John Ryan has stated that Rovers will be making a bid for Sharp, and he’s expressed his will to stay at the Keepmoat where he has been in fine form during his loan spell.

Barnsley

Mark Robins has turned around the Oakwell club since his arrival, and if their recent for continues, they could find themselves in contention for a play-off position. Currently an outside option, but Barnsley’s chances of pushing the top teams with an upcoming manager could sway it for Sharp.

Sheffield United:

Unless Kevin Blackwell was to leave under suspicious circumstances over Christmas, then this appears to be the least likely option, as Sharp’s style does not mix well with that of the Blades boss. However, with United’s recent form improving, more chances being created, and Sharp’s love of the club, he might want one more chance at Bramall Lane.
