Sheffield United loanee Ritchie De Laet is eyeing a successful spell with the Blades despite two defeats in the two games he’s been with the club.

De Laet who was a stand out performer in Saturday’s 1-0 loss at home to Watford is currently only with the club for a month, but following some impressive performances, and a shortage of numbers in the squad could be kept on for a longer period.

The Belgian international who is renowned for his long-throw, hopes this weapon can help turn around United’s fortunes.

I want to help the team to start winning and hopefully my long throw can be utilised, you see it all the time in the Championship and if our luck changes maybe the ball will drop our way in the box.’

De Laet also added that it’s not going to be an immediate turn around, and for the results to come, the defence need to be on the top of their game.

‘It hasn’t gone well in terms of results, but you can’t fault the lads for their effort.

‘We need to start keeping clean sheets and winning games by the odd goal to build the confidence going forward.’
