Danny Wilson made it two league wins out of two with a convincing performance at Bramall Lane.

The Blades, who included 11th hour signing Kevin McDonald in the side, came away from their first home game with all three points thanks to goals from strike duo Jordan Slew and Richard Cresswell.

With new signings Chris Porter and Ryan Flynn injured, Slew and McDonald deputised and played key roles in the Blades victory. However, it was the old guard of Cresswell and Stephen Quinn who will have caught the eye.

Despite being utilised as a target man at times, Cresswell wasn’t often successful in the air, but his ability in the box provided the quality United required to get them past Uwe Rosler’s side.

For the first goal, just after half-time he held up well before laying off for Slew to side foot past Richard Lee, before getting on the scoresheet himself moments later when McDonald slid Lowton into the area and his cross was converted by the veteran from close range.

It wasn’t a flawless display, for the latter part of the first-half Brentford enjoyed a lot of possession and probed United’s goal, but fortunately just lacked the quality to edge in front.

However, in what was Wilson’s first league game at the Lane, he, along with the 16,000 Blades in attendance will have left the game more than satisfied as United hold an automatic promotion place. (for now).
