Micky Adams returns to Bramall Lane for the first time since his sacking as Sheffield United boss this weekend when he brings his Port Vale side to town in the FA Cup.

Adams, as he told The Sentinel, is adamant that had he been given more time he would have achieved what was expected of him.

However he doesn’t “bear or hold grudges” and has simply “moved on”: ‘I still maintain, given time, that I would have done the job and taken United back up.

‘I wasn’t given time, but I don’t bear or hold grudges. I just move on.’

Perhaps the 51-year-old would have achieved what he wanted to with The Blades, perhaps not? Clearly the board weren’t convinced he would have or they wouldn’t have sacked him but he’s certainly come back well with Port Vale and is working wonders with them!
