Zak Brunt has officially joined National League side Boreham Wood on a season-long loan.

The 20 year-old midfielder had two successful loan spells last campaign firstly at Southend United, and then at Notts County where he featured in their push for the play-offs. Last season Brunt featured in two of United’s EFL cup games early on in the season, in the wins against Carlisle United and Derby County.

Brunt becomes the seventh youngster to be loaned out ahead of the 2022/23 campaign, following the moves of Marcus Dewhurst (Scunthorpe United), Femi Seriki (Rochdale), Jake Eastwood (Ross County), Harry Boyes (Forest Green Rovers), Harrison Neal (Barrow) and Jean Belehouan (Boston United).

Boreham Wood manager Luke Garrard had this to say on capturing Zak’s signature on a season-long loan deal:

“I’m really happy to get Zak signed. He is someone I have earmarked since his initial loan at Southend United. He had a successful spell with them and then progressed onto Notts County at the back end of the season, featuring in their play-off push.

“He has a great experience of the level already at such a young age and understands what’s expected to deliver consistently week-in-week-out within this division. He will bring great quality to the group and has a real attacking intent to his play.” [Boreham Wood website]
