Sheffield United return to action in their second Premier League match in five days as the fulfilment of the current 2019-20 is carried out. Of course, the Blades have everything to play for with a European spot a possibility at the end of the season, but victories are paramount, and a win at our next opponents Newcastle United, at St James’ Park, would go a long way in achieving this.

FA Premier League
The Blades would have seen themselves fifth in the table had they won at Aston Villa last Wednesday. In what was a dire game, with neither side mounting any serious threat on goal, the match finished 0-0, however, the match was overshadowed by an incident which occurred 3 minutes before half-time, that saw United denied a goal, despite the ball crossing over the line.
Blades boss Chris Wilder is keen to put the matter aside, and in the old cliché, concentrate on the next game. Speaking ahead of United’s trip to the North East tomorrow, the Blades chief told Sheffield Star;
Sheffield United battled through that draw at Villa Park without two key players, defender Jack O’Connell and midfielder John Fleck, whilst David McGoldrick received a knock during the game, however, Wilder expects the trio to be fighting fit on Sunday.

On 11th June, The Mag reported that five of Newcastle United’s players were doubtful of the re-start of the 2019-20 FA Premier League season, which would also affect their involvement in the forthcoming fixture with Sheffield United at St James’ Park.
Whilst the Blades have already re-begun their season at Aston Villa four days ago, for Newcastle, this will be their first fixture upon the restart of the season.
The article suggests that, in an internal friendly match between the Newcastle squad, which the first team won 3-2, the Longstaff brothers, Matty and Sean, both picked up knocks. There were also fitness doubts over Andy Carroll, Ciaran Clark, and Dwight Gale, all of which are unlikely to be involved in the match on 21st June.
