Manager Chris Wilder has called on Sheffield United to show further improvement following Tuesday’s defeat to Cardiff City.

Heading to the Cardiff City Stadium for the game in midweek, United travelled home with a two nil defeat on the day and speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media for his post game press conference, a disappointed gaffer explained that compliments for the performance didn’t do much for him as he sat there without a point to show for our efforts.

‘We haven’t got a result from the game, so that’s the top and bottom of it. Compliments from the opposition manager don’t sit well with me, I want points on the table. We’ve had two tough away games, I understand that, but I believe we’ve been in both games and the games have been decided by their quality in the box.’

Discussing Cardiff’s goals either side of the half time restart, he went on to say.

‘The towering header for the first goal sticks out and also the bit of magic for the second. When we put it in their box, they defended properly. From box-to-box we’ve been fine, we’ve competed, but games are ultimately decided by what happens in both boxes and we’ve come up short and we must improve to gain points on the road.’

Wilder went on to say that we need to adjust to the uplift in quality when it comes to the Championship and obviously a number of our oppositions now do have Premier League experience which we have to learn to deal with.

‘We’re no longer playing against League One players, a lot of these boys have played in the Premiership. We are playing opposition that are packed with quality players, but we can’t complain, this is where we want to be and we’ve got to hold our own. We need to be better, it was OK, but I don’t want to be OK, I don’t want to have a drink with Neil after the game and him tell us we’ll be fine, I want to be better than that.’
