New signing Billy Sharp has been speaking of his joy at returning to the club he supported as a boy.

The Blades sealed the signature of Sharp, for a second time, last week, after previously selling him to Scunthorpe in the summer of 2005.

Speaking to the official club site, Sharp said:

‘I’m from Sheffield and I supported United as a boy. You never say never and luckily this chance has come again.’

United had to beat off competition from a number of clubs before signing Sharp, including their neighbours, and local rivals, the Owls,

‘I spoke to Sheffield Wednesday because of Brian Laws, really… but I’m a Sheffield United fan and I don’t really like Wednesday.’

Sharp has said that he always sets a target of 20 goals each season, and hopes to continue that with United, adding,

‘I’ll always give 110%. If I can score goals and the Blades are doing well then it’ll be my dream come true.’

As far as I’m concerned, if Sharp can even score half the amount of goals he’s managed in the last two years, he’ll be an instant hero at Bramall Lane.
