Earlier this afternoon Sheffield United confirmed that Ben Whiteman had completed a permanent switch to Doncaster Rovers and speculation suggests James Wilson could be Lincoln bound.

The 21 year old had been out on loan with Doncaster in the first half of the season and he impressed, scoring seven times in 30 appearances and they have now agreed an undisclosed fee for his services.

Whilst with United he made 12 appearances in total following his debut against Crewe Alexandra in the FA Cup back in November 2014 and speaking to the Official Site manager Chris Wilder explained.

‘Ben leaves with our best wishes and we hope he picks up from where he left off at Doncaster. It would be tough for him to get into our side at present given the strength we have in that area of the team, but should Ben’s career progress as we think it could, then, as a club, we’ve covered ourselves for the future in terms of a sell-on.’

Sensible to see a sell on clause inserted in the deal.

Our friends over at Vital Walsall are investigating rumours that suggest Sheffield United could recall James Wilson from his loan spell out with them having received a permanent offer from Lincoln City.

Wilson headed out to Walsall over the summer on a loan spell and he’s made 20 appearances for them so far this campaign, scoring once.

The original rumours seems to appear on Twitter from journalist Pete O’Rouke.
