On-loan Manchester City starlet James McAtee scored the games only as the Blades secured their second Premier League victory of the season after beating Brentford 1-0.

The victory also proved to be new manager Chris Wilder’s first victory in his second spell in charge of the club since taking on the role last Tuesday. Despite claiming maximum points, the Blades remain bottom of the league, though lay two points away from safety

McAtee netted the only goal of the game in first-half stoppage time. After collecting the ball on the edge of the area, his superb curling effort flew beyond keeper Klekken.

United had a golden opportunity to double their lead on 56 minutes after Cameron Archer played in a low cross and substitute Anis Ben Slimane saw his close-range effort kept out.

Wilder was immensely proud of his side in the way that they conducted themselves in a professional manner to secure the victory. He told BBC Football;  “The key now is to have more of these days like today. It’s about small steps. Everybody played their part.
