John Egan has been Sheffield United’s club captain this season, with club legend Billy Sharp suffering from an ankle injury shortly after coming back into the side after recovering from a calf injury from last campaign.

There are rumours emerging that the Irish international centre-back is being monitored by Premier League side West Ham United. According to the trustworthy source Alan Nixon, David Moyes is preparing to splash £12M on the 29 year-old in the January transfer window. Currently, West Ham have a handful of injuries at the centre-back position.

Egan still has 18 months left on his current contract at Bramall Lane and will hope to help United back to the Premier League after an encouraging start to the Championship season.

Last season, Egan played every single Championship game for United, proving that he is a reliable asset for the Blades. He played a big part in helping United keep 20 clean sheets in the 21/22 Championship campaign.

In the first 8 league games so far, United sit top of the league and they have been solid defensively, keeping 4 clean sheets and conceding the 2nd least amount of goals in the division.

If United are to accept the Hammers £12M offer in January, then they would need a replacement centre-back at the ready as they too have current centre-back injury issues.
