Sheffield United made the most of the Easter double header of fixtures and having taken victory over Nottingham Forest on Good Friday, it became Magnificent Monday as we hammered Hull City.
Six points from six saw the Blades capitalise fully on Leeds United’s double slip up and we now have a three point advantage in the race for the automatic promotion spots and second place.
Although it’s now all eyes towards next weekend’s clash with Ipswich Town back at Bramall Lane, manager Chris Wilder has rightfully been reflecting on a good weekend for the club, but his main message was really to keep our heads down, stay focused, and ensure that we now finish the job properly.
Speaking to the Star, a proud Wilder explained.
“We’ve not taken any short-cuts and we needed a big weekend. Our preparation was good. To win games at the top end of the Championship you’ve got to tick a lot of boxes, and we ticked a lot of boxes. The position speaks for itself – 85 points with two games to go. We’ve just to get our heads down and recover well. We’ve just got to make sure we prepare in the right way. We need to focus and make sure we take the opportunity on Saturday. We are playing at a decent standard. We are in good nick.”
It’s in our hands and that’s exactly where we wanted the race for second spot to be and having capitalised on Leeds’ wobble, take it one at a time now and ensure that if Norwich wobble, we’ve done all we can to turn an already fantastic season into maybe even a better one.
