Blades boss Neil Warnock is at the centre of the row between Derby and the Blades after Michael Johnson saw red last night.

The Derby player received a straight red card in the 57th minute for a rash challenge on United winger Paul Ifill, which caused uproar on the Rams’ bench.

Warnock put it down to inexperience on the home bench though, after Phil Brown was sacked earlier this week: ‘Terry (Westley) is inexperienced and he badly wanted to do well.’

‘In the context of what went on he could have got a yellow but it was a bad tackle and there was no way Michael was ever going to get the ball.’

The Derby boss thought it was a good tackle, saying: ‘I thought it was a good tackle. Johnson was disappointed with the sending off, their staff’s reaction to it and the referee’s reaction. It was just the frustration of the team giving everything.’
