Midfielder James Wallace has returned to group training following the latest in a series of injury niggles he’s had this season and he could get a run out in next week’s under 21 fixture.

The 23 year old former Tranmere Rovers midfielder, hasn’t started a game for the club since November having arrived over the summer as a series of muscle problems have blighted him – meaning he only has eight starts to his name, and a further five from the bench.

Speaking to the Official Site manager Nigel Clough was hopeful that he would now be able to play his part in our run in over the remaining games of the season.

‘James joined the group for training on Monday morning which is obviously good news for us and him. We’ll manage him carefully this week as we have done throughout his rehabilitation, but hopefully should everything go to plan he will get some minutes under his belt for the U21s in a game next week and we’ll take it from there. We are still hoping to be able to call upon his services at some point before the end of the season, after initially fearing some weeks ago that wouldn’t be the case.’

Terry Kennedy and Stefan Scougall have also been pencilled in for a behind closed doors game on Wednesday and they continue their recovery and search for fitness following injury.

Each will be looking to get 45 minutes under their belts.

‘We hope to get Tel and Stefan a run out in midweek, they are progressing nicely and will be hopefully in contention after the Crewe game. We are getting a few bodies back at a crucial time of the season and that can only improve the options we have at our disposal.’
