A first win in 10 was collected by Coventry when the bottom side collected a 2-1 win over Gillingham at the Ricoh Arena. Despite this win over the Gills – who lost for the first time in six – the Sky Blues are still nine points from safety.

MK Dons’ second defeat in the last three came when Fleetwood’s impressive run towards potential automatic promotion continued when a 1-0 win – a seventh in a 10 game unbeaten run – at the stadium:mk to close to within two points of an automatic promotion spot.

The winless run was extended to seven with Port Vale’s 1-1 draw with Bristol Rovers not enough to prevent Vale from dropping into the relegation spots.

Rochdale and Charlton both lost ground on the top six – Dale are only two points off the play-offs whereas the Addicks are eight points – after a six goal thriller at Spotland ended in a 3-3 draw.

A positive reaction to defeat from Shrewsbury saw the points – for a third win in the last four – collected in a 2-1 victory over Wimbledon at Greenhous Meadow to keep the Shrews four points clear of the relegation zone.

Southend twice lost the lead in a 2-2 draw with Northampton – who are now unbeaten in three – but the Shrimpers were still able to reclaim a play-off place on goal difference.

Victory for Walsall took them to within four points of the play-off places. A 2-0 loss for Peterborough though was a fifth defeat in the last eight for Posh, who are a point and a couple of places closer to the top six.
