The League 1 season continued with the latest round of games played during midweek.

Sheffield United remain clear of Fleetwood – who are just holding off Bolton. Coventry and Chesterfield look set for relegation with Swindon and Port Vale also cut slightly adrift.

Despite allowing a two goal lead to slip against Swindon Sheffield United still ran out 4-2 winners over the relegation strugglers. The Blades maintained a clear lead over Fleetwood at the top. The Robins’ third straight defeat means they are now seven points from safety.

A first meeting between Wimbledon and MK Dons at Kingsmeadow ended with the Dons recording a 2-0 win that took them into midtable.

Bury’s 3-0 win over 10 man Bristol Rovers – who missed the chance to move a points off the top six – took the Shakers six points clear of the bottom four.

The unbeaten run Charlton are on was extended to three but the Addicks had to settle for successive draws when promotion chasing Bradford came from behind to claim a point at the Valley. The Bantams dropped four points behind the automatic promotion places after this 1-1 draw.

A six goal thriller – that went one way then the other – saw Chesterfield and Peterborough share the points at the Proact Stadium. The Spireites remain second bottom and 10 points from safety after this 3-3 draw. Posh have now won just once in the last seven.

Bottom of the league Coventry are now 17 points from safety after a 2-0 defeat against play-off chasing Southend. Having won for the first time in four the Shrimpers moved to within a point of Millwall in the final play-off place.

Gillingham slipped to a first defeat in three when Bolton ran out 4-0 winners at Priestfield. Victory for the Trotters kept them a point and a place from automatic promotion rivals Fleetwood.

A late winner against at Sixfields against Port Vale secured a third successive Northampton win – this took the Cobblers clear of the bottom four – against the relegation threatened side. A first defeat in three for Vale saw them slip five points from safety.

Oldham opened up a five point gap between themselves and Port Vale – in the final relegation place – after a 2-1 win over Oxford at Boundary Park. A third defeat in four saw the U’s top six hopes dealt another blow.

An added time winners – as they came from behind – secured Scunthorpe a crucial first win in 10 to keep the Irons’ automatic promotion bid on. Rochdale’s 2-1 defeat at Glanford Park extended Dale’s long run without a win.

Fleetwood reacted positively to defeat against promotion rivals Bolton with a 1-0 win over Walsall at the Banks’s Stadium. Victory kept the Cod Army a point clear of the Trotters in second with the Saddlers’ play-off hopes dented.
