The League 1 season continued with the latest round of games played during midweek.
Sheffield United and Scunthorpe’s draws saw Bolton close the gap on the top two. Bury, Swindon, Chesterfield and Coventry remain in the relegation places.

Bristol Rovers are now unbeaten in four but – as with two of the previous three – they had to again settle for a point from a draw. Sheffield United’s 0-0 draw at the Memorial Stadium wasn’t costly though as 2nd place Scunthorpe also failed to win so the gap remains at five points.
For a second successive game a Wimbledon equaliser in added time secured a 1-1 draw at Kingsmeadow. This time it was against bottom side Coventry with the Sky Blues denied a much-needed victory as the gap between them and safety was extended to 11 points.
Bury missed the chance to move out of the bottom four when held to a 0-0 draw at Gigg Lane by midtable MK Dons.
Having drawn the last three – in a long unbeaten run – Fleetwood recorded a 2-1 win over promotion rivals Bradford to close to within four points of an automatic place. Despite this first defeat in five the Bantams retained a play-off place.
Gillingham’s fifth successive draw came when they were held to a 1-1 draw at Priestfield by Chesterfield. Had it not been for an added time equaliser for the relegation threatened Spireites they would have slipped to a third straight defeat. The second bottom side are now six points from safety.
A third successive Millwall win – who are now unbeaten in the last 10 – consolidated a play-off place. This 2-0 victory over Port Vale – who are just two points above the relegation zone and without a win in six – kept the Lions in sixth.
Northampton made it back-to-back victories to ease relegation concerns after seeing off struggling Swindon 2-1 at Sixfields. The Robins have now lost five in a row with the gap between them and safety growing to four points.
A third win in four for Oldham – who made it back-to-back victories – ensured the Latics stayed out of the relegation zone. Charlton’s slim play-off chances were dealt a further blow with this 1-0 defeat at Boundary Park – a first in nine but most had been drawn though – seeing the Addicks slip nine points off the top six.
Oxford’s three game winning run came to an end as the U’s lost ground on the play-off places. Southend’s 2-0 win at the Kassam Stadium saw the Shrimpers react positively to defeat in their last day to remain just a point and a place off 6th.
A 2-1 victory over Shrewsbury makes Peterborough’s recent form of two wins in three look better than the three defeats from four Posh went into this game with. This London Road defeat ended the Shrews’ six game unbeaten run but they do remain a healthy enough four points above the bottom four.
With Sheffield United held to a draw Scunthorpe missed the chance to close the gap on the leaders. The Irons’ 0-0 draw with Walsall means they remain 2nd with the gap staying at five points. The Saddlers will almost certainly be the happier of the two sides with this draw at Glanford Park.
Bolton extended their run to three unbeaten with a 1-0 win over Rochdale also making it back-to-back victories. With the Trotters having a game in hand and just two points behind Scunthorpe the 3rd placed side will be eyeing an automatic promotion spot. Dales third defeat in a five game winless spell means they slipped to 9th. They are just three points off the top six though.
