The League 1 season continued with the latest round of games played over the weekend.
Sheffield United’s position at the top was improved. However, Swindon’s loss saw them drop into the bottom four where they joined Bury, Chesterfield and Coventry.

Sheffield United maintained their lead at the top – and extend the gap between them and 2nd placed Scunthorpe to five points – after a 1-0 win over play-off chasing Peterborough at London Road.
An added time equaliser prevented Wimbledon from suffering back-to-back defeats. Charlton are now unbeaten in seven but as the Addicks have only won three of these games the play-offs remain an unlikely outcome this season.
Bolton came back from a goal down to eventually run out 4-1 winners over Walsall at the Macron Stadium. This first win in five – the Saddlers’ first defeat in six – took the Trotters to within four points of 2nd placed Scunthorpe after the Iron were beaten.
With the Bristol Rovers unbeaten run extended to three they remain in play-off contention after a 1-1 draw with Bradford. This was a third draw in the last four for the Bantams but they do remain in a play-off position.
Bury’s first win in four against relegation rivals Swindon wasn’t enough to take them out of the relegation zone. But this 1-0 win at Gigg Lane did take the Shakers above the Robins – after a fourth straight defeat – with both in the bottom four.
The long unbeaten run that Fleetwood are on was extended. However, a third straight draw meant the Cod Army missed the chance to close in on an automatic promotion spot. Rochdale also missed the chance to move back into a play-off place after this 0-0 draw at the Highbury Stadium.
Relegation rivals Gillingham and Port Vale shared the points Priestfield. The Gills’ added time equaliser rescued a point in this 1-1 draw to make it four in a row – Vale’s point ended back-to-back defeats.
Not only did Millwall extend their unbeaten run to nine this 1-0 win over Southend took the Lions into the top six. The Shrimpers had gone onto the weekend in the fourth and final play-off spot but lost this following defeat at the Den, dropping to 8th after a first defeat in four.
Northampton made it two wins in three to ease relegation concerns but further worsen the Chesterfield plight. The Spireites are second bottom and five points from safety after this 3-1 loss at Sixfields.
A second win in three took Oldham out of the relegation zone after a five goal thriller at Boundary Park against relegation rivals Coventry. The Latics climbed above Swindon and Bury to 20th. However, this 3-2 defeat for the Sky Blues was a fifth straight loss with them now 10 points from safety.
A winner two minutes from time saw Oxford to a 1-0 victory – a third straight win – over MK Dons – a first defeat in seven – at the Kassam Stadium. This also took the 11th placed U’s to within four points of the top six.
Scunthorpe lost for the second game running as the title bid took a knock. The Irons remain in 2nd but dropped four points behind leaders Sheffield United and are now only four points ahead of Bolton in 3rd. Shrewsbury’s 1-0 win was a fourth in a six game unbeaten run to keep the Shrews five points clear of trouble.
