The Championship season continued with the latest round of games played over the weekend.

A fourth win in five for Aston Villa, when beaten Fulham, took Steve Bruce’s side into a play off place, which his former club Hull moved a little closer to with a victory at Barnsley, a second in three.

Six goals were shared at Griffin Park as Brentford and Sunderland drew 3-3 – meaning the Black Cats remain second bottom.

Leeds three game losing run came to an end in emphatic fashion when beating Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

An improvement of form from Derby saw them overcome Sheffield Wednesday, moving the Rams a couple of points off the top six – the Owls slipped closer to the bottom three and away from the play off places they would have been expected to occupy.

Cardiff’s first win in three came at Middlesbrough and that sees the Bluebirds maintain second place, just ahead of third placed Sheffield United – who beat Reading – on goal difference.

A five goal thriller at Molineux was edged by Wolves as victory over Preston kept them two points clear at the top.
