The Championship season continued with the latest round of games played over the weekend.

Not only were Birmingham beaten once again this latest setback – when Preston left St Andrew’s with the points – saw Blues drop into the bottom three whereas North End climbed up to fourth. It also proved to be Harry Redknapp’s last game in charge as he was relieved of his duties shortly after.

Bristol City recorded a convincing win over Derby – who had themselves won well in the Championship last time round – with Burton causing something of an upset when seeing off the challenge of Fulham at the Pirelli Stadium.

Recovering from a bit of a wobble, Ipswich inflicted another defeat on bottom side Bolton. Meanwhile, at the other end, leaders Leeds saw their winning run ended when Millwall beat the Whites at the Den.

An impressive run from Sheffield United also ended when Norwich went home with a win at Bramall Lane.

Aston Villa were another to collect a long overdue three points with a convincing win at Barnsley in Saturday’s evening game.
