New signing Tommy Doyle has yet to feature in a match this pre-season so far, after damaging his thigh on United’s preseason tour in Portugal.

The exciting young Manchester City prospect will miss the first few weeks of the season. The 20 year-old has catching up to do in terms of fitness due to the thigh injury he is recovering from.

Blades boss suggested that the midfielder was “loving life” with United before suffering his injury. Heckingbottom followed up with saying that:

“[Doyle] will be another couple of weeks. He’s as disappointed as we are, because he was enjoying himself training in Portugal. He was loving it.

“[The injury] automatically puts him behind. He’s not working with us and his teammates and missing out on minutes, so it’s tough.

“It’s horrible being injured. He’ll certainly be working hard in the gym and when he comes back on the grass, we’ve got enough games where we’re going to need him. So the sooner we get him back, the better.” [Via The Star]
