Oli McBurnie has been in superb form this season and he is the joint-top scorer in the Championship with nine goals through twenty games.

Up next for United’s number nine is Cardiff City away at the weekend, and with his links to Swansea City he is bound to get a negative reaction from the crowd if he plays on Saturday.

Although there was an injury scare for McBurnie as he was seen wearing a protective boot after the game on Tuesday evening, that was just a precaution.

McBurnie jokingly told the media on SUTV:

“I am sure I will get a lovely reception like I always do there.”

McBurnie spoke about being the current joint-top scorer in the Championship:

“It’s nice, it’s nice to see the rewards of hard work. I have worked hard. It’s not just happened by accident but I had a chat with the gaffer the other day, I haven’t done anything yet.” [SUTV]

The Scottish striker is all set to go under the knife next week to have an operation on a hernia that he has been playing with for a number of weeks. But that has not stopped McBurnie from scoring goals in the red and white.

A goal, or some form of positive contribution, from United’s number nine at Cardiff at the weekend would cap off an excellent first half to the season from a personal perspective for Oli McBurnie.

Sheffield United could regain the top spot on Saturday with a victory in South Wales, however, it will only be until Sunday afternoon; Burnley host rivals Blackburn Rovers on Sunday at midday.
