Current Blades target Red Khadra is said to be close to signing on loan for Sheffield United from Brighton & Hove Albion, Alan Nixon has revealed.

The two clubs are reportedly working together to find a way to make the move a permanent one. The 21 year-olds contract expires next summer, but Brighton could extend his contract. The Blades are interested in an option-to-buy deal at a fixed sum that will have to be negotiated.

The young dynamic attacker scored against United last season in the 3-1 loss at Ewood Park. Later on in the season he played at Bramall Lane where United grinded out a 1-0 victory, with Khadra missing a penalty in that game, but still had a good performance.

Khadra can play as a winger, as an inside forward, as well as being more of a link man between midfield and attack, from the ‘number 10’ position. He would provide United with another impact player, and a similar one to last season’s loan sensation, Morgan Gibbs-White.

As per previous reports, Khadra has been to Sheffield to look around the city as well as the clubs training facilities and the stadium. The German has had interest from Anderlecht, Blackburn and Sunderland, now it looks clear that he has chosen the Steel City as his preferred destination for at least his near future, for now.
