United have expressed their interest in bringing Villa u23’s midfielder Tim Iroegbunam on loan for the season, according to Birmingham Mail.

Iroegbunam, 19, impressed in his starts in midfield for the Villa youth team in the Premier League 2 last season. This led to him being listed on the bench for Aston Villa in the Premier League, and eventually made a few appearances at senior level, including one start for the club against Norwich in April.

The midfielder has featured for the England u19’s this summer in the u19’s European championship, in which Iroegbunam has helped the England youth side reach the final that is due to be played tonight against Israel.

After Premier League legend Steven Gerrard handed the youngster his Premier League debut last season, Gerrard told the Birmingham Mail:

“I think you can see the profile, what he is going to become. He can get around the grass quickly, he can cover ground quickly, he’s aggressive.” [Birmingham Mail]

The Birmingham Mail also understands that several Championship clubs are interested in bringing the talented teenager on loan this summer.

If United want to sign Tim Iroegbunam, they’ll have to fight off the chasing pack which include Swansea, Stoke, Bristol City and Blackburn Rovers.
