The promising young striker Will Osula has officially made a loan switch to Derby County for the season, the development squad has confirmed today. The deal will include an option to recall the 19 year-old in January.

Osula could be in contention to face Plymouth Argyle at Pride Park on Saturday afternoon. Derby County are currently in 6th place in League One and are just 3pts off of the early league leaders Portsmouth.

Derby County have eyes on promotion this season and Will Osula can help them achieve that. Playing at the top end of League One can benefit the young Dane for his development for this season.

He joins the Rams knowing some familiar faces from last season, Blades legend David McGoldrick and last season’s loanee Conor Hourihane will both welcome Will Osula with open arms at the training ground.

United could have David McGoldrick to thank this season as he will no doubt take Will Osula under his wing and help out the youngster throughout his season-long loan spell.

Last season a loan move to League One for Daniel Jebbison worked wonders for his development as he took yet another leap in his progression. Paul Heckingbottom knows the youngsters well at United having managed them and won the league with them.

So United can trust the gaffer’s judgement with the youth as he has proven his judgement correct time and time again. Clearly now he feels as though this is the right time for Osula to take the next step and gain vital first team experience on a regular basis.
