I’m pretty sure there’s a compliment in there somewhere.

We know that Neil Warnock is not a man that minces his words, he tells it like it is.

Speaking on the ‘Eamonn and the gaffers’ podcast, former Blades boss Wanrock talked about the incredible job that current Blades manager Chris Wilder has been doing. Of course it’s no secret when it comes to Wilder and the Blades have been on an incredible one these past few years under his stewardship, and he deserves every bit of praise that can come is way.

Although hidden in his praise for Wilder, Warnock did manage to slip a few words in there that might upset the applecart just a little bit.

Who was the better Blades manager?

And when Warnock’s comments came out on social media, there was a little bit of dissecting that went on amongst the supporters as they tried to work out the reasoning behind his little ‘dig’ at Wilder, with one fan seemingly implying that Warnock was merely ‘fishing’ for a response.

What about you? What do you make of these comments from Warnock?

Chalk and cheese these two. The comment where he said “he’s like me” trying make out he’s somehow in his league? Warnock is a good championship manager, but he does it by creating an us v them atmosphere even against the crowd sometimes. Chris Wilder builds relationships and therefore builds respect and is therefore very popular with the majority of people in the game. He doesn’t upset refs or the authorities or fans or other managers and players. He knows how to get the best out of people even the fans, who all love him, no marmite there.
