Kevin Blackwell may still be firmly in a job, but speculation is hotting up about potential replacements arriving through the door at Bramall Lane.
Sunday’s News of the World is running the story about Alan Shearer arriving at the Lane, whilst people’s ‘sources’ at the ground had heard Darren Ferguson’s name mentioned, with Kevin Blackwell leaving Wednesday.’
The News of the World claims that a ‘spokesperson’ close to the former England and Newcastle United striker is:
‘He’s desperate to get back in. He waited for Newcastle and it didn’t happen.
‘Now he wants another club. He has the hunger and he is just waiting for the right club with the right ambition.’
However, no matter how rife speculation is, there’s little to suggest Kevin Blackwell will be leaving the club, especially with the Blades picking up three points today.
New Chief Executive Trevor Birch, who insists that the club provides a new challenge from any he’s been a part of before, due to the financial stability has given no mention of ridding the club of it’s manager, and is impressed with the discipline and professionalism of Blackwell’s squads, after his dealings at Leeds United.
