A decision is likely to made this week on United`s three trialists, as a fourth signs for a League 1 rival.

Alex Kruk, Kevin McDonald and Matt Duke, who all played a part today have featured more than once in pre-season in the hope of earning a contract. Meanwhile, Iain Turner, who joined the club on trial at the start of the week, has signed for Preston North End following the departure of Andy Lonergan to Leeds.

Kruk, a German left-back who played for the Blades in Malta, as well as the majority of the other pre-season games has impressed during his short stay and could have done enough for a deal. McDonald played in the tougher two games United have had, whilst Duke`s arrival would surely depend on the sale of Steve Simonsen. Former Hull ‘keeper Duke, also spent time this summer with Rochdale.
