Sheffield United manager Kevin Blackwell has expressed his delight for hat-trick hero Darius Henderson after his three goals helped the Blades to back-to-back wins for the first time this season.

Henderson, recalled to the side after suspension sealed his trio in the dying seconds to give the Blades all three points, after his first two goals had been cancelled out by the hosts.

Blackwell said: ‘His reputation in the Championship is that he is one of the top strikers and even when he is not scoring he is contributing.

‘He was immense today and I’m pleased he got his just rewards. McCombe is a big lad and was put on him all game but Darius bossed him. He takes terrific batterings from centre halves but I think he can get 20 goals this season.

‘I said to him before the game, thinking that he was on eight goals, that he could be on 10 tonight. I was wrong, because he was on seven, but he’s still on 10!’

Despite having Nick Montgomery and Richard Cresswell available again, Blackwell is still feeling the burden of the injury crisis.

‘When City equalised I thought we had done everything right except win. Then Darius scored and the mood was transformed again.

‘I think we deserved it. I still haven’t been able to put out the same side in successive games this season, but our injury problems are easing and with a bit of luck it could happen next week.’
