It was always going to be hard to pick something like this.
When you defy the odds the way that we did all season, it’s not something that you can put down to just one man, it’s definitely something that comes as a result of the whole team doing something.
And with everyone so closely packed together with their WhoScored.com rating, it was always going to be hard to separate one from the pack, but that’s what one man did.
Sheffield United held their annual awards ceremony last night, with Chris Basham scooping the award for Player of the Year.

Similar to the Oscars, there were a couple of ‘minor awards’ handed out beforehand, with Enda Stevens taking home the award for Goal of the Season, Dean Henderson the Young Player of the Year and John Egan the Community Player of the Year, before Basham was handed the big one.
And it was a decision that plenty of fans on social media agreed with.
