Steven Davies looks set to sign for Sheffield United after Blackpool confirmed that the striker was left out of the Birmingham defeat having asked for permission to ‘speak to another club’ – commonly believed to be us!

We’ve already made a couple of moves for him this season, and Nigel Clough made it clear that he was keen to work with his former Derby player again and would make another move during the emergency loan window.

Blackpool manager Lee Clark told the Blackpool Gazette that no deal has been agreed yet, and didn’t say who the club were but it’s expected to be us.

‘I spoke to Steven on Tuesday and he asked if he could speak to another club.

‘He wants to go and speak to them, although we haven’t struck a deal yet with that club.’

Clark isn’t going to ‘stand in his way’ and will reluctantly allow this move, which is expected to see us pay that Championship a loan fee with him signing a permanent contract in the summer when he becomes a free agent.

Now we just await confirmation!
