Kozzy made 236 appearances in 8 seasons in his first spell, after originally joining from Derby County along with Jonathan Hunt as part of the deal that took Vas Borbokis the other way in March 1999.

Released in July 2007, he was offered a contract at Barnsley. Leeds United also showed interest in signing him to which Kozluk, never short of a quip, said “Leeds Utd, yes, Dennis Wise, no”

Injurys limited his appearances last season to just 18, with virtually no involvement since the turn of the year. He underwent knee surgery at the end of the season.

After working in pre season training at Shirecliff, he comes in on a one year contract; it would appear as a squad player covering for both full back positions.

Kevin Blackwell said “We all know about Kozzy, I have got to bring players in to build a squad and he is only too happy to come back – he will play a role for us.

Kozluk told BBC Radio Sheffield: ‘I’m really happy to have another chance to play for the Blades.
‘I am fully aware that I am going to have fight for my place in the team, but right now there isn’t a recognised right back at the club.
He added: ‘I want to work hard for a place in the starting XI on the opening day of the season.
‘I had surgery on my knee at the end of last season, but I am in better shape now than I have been for a long time.’

Well known for his practical joking and dressing room humour, he will no doubt pick up where he left off and boost team morale with so many new faces at The Lane.
