Manager Chris Wilder has said that Sheffield United have proven they have landed back in the Championship with the October international break now upon us.

United sit third in the Championship table, only three points from Cardiff City who occupy top spot after the opening eleven games of the campaign. So far we have returned seven victories – the same as Cardiff and Wolves above us – but with them picking up a couple of draw and United taking four losses…well by anybodies standards that’s a fantastic start to the campaign as we keep our momentum from the League One title win and promotion going.

Speaking to the Official Site as he met with the media this week, Wilder was pleased with the break hitting when it did as he knew it would give people a chance to recharge without burning out.

‘We’ve been out of this division for six years, but everyone now knows we’ve landed. There’s no hiding the fact that we have good players who should be playing at this level. We are enjoying being back in the Championship but we are not going to start setting targets. We have belief and we play with the handbrake off, let’s just see where it will take us.’

He added, with stand out victories so far this term against Sheffield Wednesday, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Derby County and Brentford in particular.

‘We have a humble group, there’s no arrogance about us. I’ve been in the game long enough to know that we have genuine players who are enjoying playing for this football club.’

As for the October break specifically.

‘Fortunately, there’s a break now. There was a lot of tired legs out there against Nottingham Forest because there’s a lot of effort gone into the last three games.’
