‘Ronaldo is a special player but, from a personal point of view, I’d have Gary Neville. He’s seen it all, done it all and has that aura about him.’
These were the words of Neil Warnock yesterday when asked who he’d like from Manchester United if he could choose just one player.
It’s another ‘interesting’ view from Mr Warnock who is never short of an opinion or two.
It may also explain Warnock’s mentality away from home this season, as he has often concentrated on stopping the opposition scoring rather than getting his own team attacking.
Now don’t get me wrong, Gary Neville is a great defender and has won just about everything at club level, but what is Warnock talking about!
He’d prefer a 32 year old right back over the the best player in the world, who is just 22 years of age?
Now I despise Ronaldo’s diving and cheating more than anyone, but there is no doubt he is Man U’s most prized asset. A fact we may worryingly find out tonight.
