Ten-man Sheffield United saw their recent revival come to a halt with a 2-0 defeat at Shrewsbury Town.

Blades boss Nigel Clough saw his side lose for the first time since taking charge, conceding a goal in each half.

Joe Jacobson scored a wonder goal on 39 minutes to put the hosts ahead when he smashed home from 35 yards.

The blades hopes of clawing something back from the game were dealt a blow just twelve minutes into the second half when Febian Brandy was shown a straight red card following an altercation with Shrewsbury defender Connor Goldson.

With the blades chasing the game, they were hit on the break with just ten minutes remaining when Liam McAlinden fired into the roof of the net.

The defeat for the blades sees them drop back into the bottom four.
