Sheffield United have confirmed the loan exit to Swindon of former Bury left back Chris Hussey.

Hussey, who started last season as the first choice at United following his arrival from Bury then slipped down Chris Wilder’s pecking order, making just eight appearances in all competitions, has joined League Two club Swindon on a season-long loan.

Wilder told the Official Website: ‘Chris goes to Swindon looking for some regular first-team football under a manager he knows. We wish him all the best.’

A move to Swindon, one of a number of clubs to show an interest in Hussey, 28, will see the full back link up with his former Bury boss David Flitcroft, appointed at the Wiltshire club over the summer.

Hussey told the Official Swindon Website: ‘I’m delighted to be here and it is a big club – I’ve heard a lot of great stuff about it. I’ve worked with the gaffer before at Bury and the vision that he shared for the club was one that matched mine.’

It isn’t an absolute certainty but the chances are Hussey’s played his last game for United as he wouldn’t be expected to return to Bramall Lane at the end of the Swindon loan.
