Former Sheffield United player and coach Stuart McCall is now the odds on favourite for the vacant manager`s position at Bramall Lane and we want to know, do you think he would be a good appointment.

McCall spent five years at Bramall Lane as a player and a coach. He made 90 appearances during three seasons in the side in the twilight of his career and he helped the side reach the play-off final as well as the semi-finals of both the FA and League Cup.

He led the reserve team to the league title during his time at Bramall Lane and he was assistant to manager Neil Warnock as the side won promotion to the Premier League in 2006.

Since leaving United in the summer of 2007 following their relegation from the Premier League, he has had spells with Bradford City and Motherwell as manager.

He joined Bradford City before the start of the 2007/08 season and he spent just over three years with the League Two side before he was dismissed in February 2010 after a poor run of results left them in 16th place. In his two full seasons with Bradford, he led them to 10th and 9th place finishes.

The 48-year-old has enjoyed a successful two-and-a-half years with Scottish Premier League side Motherwell, finishing third and second in his two full seasons with the club.

United have now approached Motherwell to talk to McCall and it is believed those talks are taking place today after he cancelled his holiday to talk with the club.

So would you welcome his appointment?
