The new season kicks off on Friday night for Sheffield United at Bramall Lane and debates are going on between blades fans as to who should start the season in goal.

Manager David Weir says that he has made his choice as to who the number one and the new blades boss is happily spoilt for choice, with two excellent goalkeepers to choose from.

Mark Howard was the regular number one at the start of last season and he kept four clean sheets in twelve games before a thigh injury saw his season end prematurely in October.

He was replaced in the side by 19-year-old George Long between the sticks.

The young goalkeeper was quick to impress and he picked up the League One player of the month in his first month in the first team.

He finished the season as the clubs young player of the year, making 44 consecutive appearances and he kept 20 clean sheets, including eight clean sheets in nine games during the season.

Both have been given the opportunity to impress during pre-season and it will be tough on whoever is left out of the side but it is a great headache for Weir to have.

So what do you think?
