Sheffield United boss David Weir wants to see his side get used to the winning habit after seeing his side beat Scunthorpe United on penalties in the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy.

The blades once again failed to score but they scored their five penalties to claim a place in the second round after Mark Howard saved Scunthorpe`s third penalty and Weir was pleased to see his side progress.

Speaking on Radio Sheffield, Weir said, “I was pleased to win. It is always a difficult place to come and we came through.

“It was tense towards the end but you just want to get into a winning habit, so it is a good start for us to progress in the competition.”

Weir will now hope his side can build on the win as they go into the South Yorkshire derby at Rotherham United on Saturday.

The blades have not won in the league since the opening weekend of the season.
