Sheffield United boss David Weir felt his side could have nicked the win after coming from behind to earn a point against Colchester United at Bramall Lane.

United trailed after Colchester hit the blades on the break halfway through the half and Freddie Sears scored.

Harry Maguire levelled for Sheffield United just before the break when Sam Walker in the Colchester goal failed to keep out his long-range effort.

Sheffield United had chances to win the game in the second half but Walker atoned for his first half error by keeping the blades at bay and Weir felt it was one of those games.

Speaking on Radio Sheffield, Weir said, ‘I thought we should have nicked it. I thought that towards the end we were the team that was pressing. It was one of those games; it was quite open towards the end.

‘It was just a little bit of naivety regarding the decisions we made and we got punished for it.

‘We pushed on in the second half and despite the offside we could have won it.’
