Sheffield United boss David Weir was disappointed to see his side go out of the Capital One League Cup at the first hurdle.

Weir watched on as his United side lost their first game since his appointment in the summer and despite starting the league season with a win last Friday, Weir says there is still a lot of work to do.

Speaking in the Sheffield Star , “There were positives and negatives to take from that. Obviously the result is a big negative for us because we wanted to go through.

“I thought we played some very good football at times but, ultimately, we want to do that within a winning scenario.

“There`s still plenty we need to work on and areas where we can improve.”

United went out to Burton Albion for the second season in a row when Chris Hussey scored his second of the game deep into injury time to secure a 2-1 win for the League Two side.

Hussey had given Burton the lead early in the second half but that was cancelled out by a superb strike by Michael Doyle.

The blades will now prepare for a big game at Brentford on Saturday.
