Sheffield United fans on this site were asked recently whom they would like to see installed as the new manager and former boss Neil Warnock was a clear winner.

The poll on Vital Sheffield United started last week after Stuart McCall announced he would be staying at Motherwell and Warnock, who led the side to the Premier League in his previous spell in charge, earned 68% of the vote.

Warnock is out of work after leaving Leeds United in April and despite admitting that he would like to be closer to his home in Cornwall, the opportunity to have one last bash at the club he has supported all his life might be too much to turn down if the club did approach him.

Gareth Southgate, who is believed to be on the shortlist for the post was second and Chris Morgan, who finished the season as caretaker manager was third.

When the poll started, the six names were the leaders in the betting market for the vacant manager`s position.

Since the poll started, former defender Robert Page has become a surprise candidate for the job.

Full result
Neil Warnock 68%
Gareth Southgate 12%
Chris Morgan 8%
Wally Downes 4%
Karl Robinson 4%
Glyn Hodges 4%

The latest poll asks whether you think United will actually appoint anyone in the next seven days.
