Sheffield United boss David Weir has released five players from his squad.

Experienced duo Dave Kitson and Barry Robson are joined by Lecsinel Jean-Francois, Matty Harriott and Danny Coyne in leaving Bramall Lane.

Striker Kitson is expected to join the MLS after after spending last season with United.

Kitson was the clubs leading goalscorer last season with 12 goals in 37 appearances.

Robson joined United in January from MLS side Vancouver Whitecaps and he made 18 appearances in the second half of the season scoring twice. The midfielder has already agreed to join Scottish Premier League side Aberdeen when his contract ends at the end of this month.

Lecsinel Jean-Francois made just one appearance last season after failing to overcome a cruciate knee ligament injury.

Matty Harriott made just one appearance for United last season and he spent three months on loan at Blue Square Conference Premier Division side Alfreton Town.

Experienced goalkeeper Danny Coyne was brought in as cover for George Long after the injury to Mark Howard. Coyne never made an appearance for United after signing at the start of November.
