The way forward

A win over the weekend would have been a much needed lift for the team. Getting two goals, and keeping a clean sheet will have been such a boost.

I wasn`t able to get to the away match with Cambridge; however, I did watch the highlights on TV. I thought that Baxter and Murphy`s goals were pretty good, and I hope they can continue to contribute to the score sheet in league matches over the coming months. There were a few shouts for handball against us, however, looking at the footage, I reckon the ref was okay (for once), and all were ball to hand.

It`s about time we had a half decent ref taking charge of a game. Too many times at Bramall Lane, we see, in my opinion, sub-standard refereeing.

It will be interesting to see who NC will bring in during the January transfer window. I know he`s been trying to do a deal, but not sure who is involved, however, I`ll be keen to see what pans out in the next few weeks.

As I`ve said before, White would be a good capture if we can lure him away from Leeds, but I definitely feel that the midfield needs strengthening first.

There are quite a few names on the rumour sites; however, it`ll be one of those “will they play lower league football” issues. Some names being touted sound good, but we will have to wait and see. Quinn has been rumoured to be coming back on loan, and Paddy Madden is another name on the list, however, I always tend to take these rumour sites as a pinch of salt – always prefer to wait until something is published in black and white – not getting my hopes up!

I`m looking forward to getting back on the Kop on Saturday for Swindon`s visit to BDTBL. We need to pick up three points to move up a place in the table, if we can achieve this, we could, in theory move up to the top half of the table over the festive period. There are only about 4 or 5 points between Tranmere`s position and 11th place, so all`s pretty close going into this busy period of fixtures.

UTB!
