It has been fairly quiet at Sheffield United so far this summer on the transfer rumour front but the arrival of new manager David Weir at the start of the week has got the press talking, linking United with a number of players.

Kris Boyd – Kilmarnock
Former Scotland international striker Kris Boyd is a free agent after coming to the end of his short-term deal at Kilmarnock and he has been linked with a re-union with Weir.

The pair played together at Glasgow Rangers and the 29-year-old is looking to get his career back on track after disappointing spells in Turkey and America.

Boyd scored three times in nine games in his short spell with Kilmarnock last season and he has scored 209 goals in 408 appearances in Scotland and England during his career.

His last spell south of the border saw him play for Middlesbrough where he netted 6 times in 29 appearances. Towards the end of his time at the Riverside, he enjoyed a successful loan spell at Nottingham Forest, netting 6 times in 12 games.

Jeff Schlupp – Leicester City
The 20-year-old Ghanaian international would be a real coup if United could manage to sign the versatile youngster.

Schlupp can play in a variety of positions from defence to attack and in March he had a short trial at Manchester United.

United are believed to be facing competition from both the Premier League and the Championship for his signature.

The youngster is contracted to Leicester until the summer of 2015.

John Lundstram – Everton
Weir is being linked with the Everton youngster who is currently away with the England under-20 squad at the World Cup in Turkey.

He has already represented England at three levels and he captained the under-19 side during his time at that level.

The 19-year-old midfielder had a successful loan spell at Doncaster Rovers last season, where he made 14 appearances and it is believed our South Yorkshire neighbours are keen on him returning.

Scott Wootton – Manchester United
The 21-year-old is a versatile defender and he played in the Champions League for United last season.

New United boss David Moyes could help out his former Everton colleague Weir and allow the youngster to spend the season on loan at Bramall Lane to gain more first team experience.

The England under-17 international has already spent time away from United on loan playing for Tranmere Rovers, Nottingham Forest and Peterborough United.

Will Keane – Manchester United
The 20-year-old striker is another player that David Moyes is looking to send out on loan to gain more first team experience.

He has made one first team appearance for United when he came off the bench against Blackburn Rovers over the festive period in the 2011/12 season.

The striker has represented England at four levels, including three appearances for the under-21 squad.
